Sirsak proudly participated in the sustainability-focused program presented by Liberty Society in collaboration with the Netherlands Embassy. By contributing across multiple sessions, Sirsak strengthened the commitment to advancing circular economy practices and supporting small, and medium enterprises (SMEs) by providing innovative solutions so that SMEs can transition to be more environmentally friendly.

The program kicked off with the SMEs Circular Business Video Challenge, a digital campaign encouraging sustainable brands to share their circular business models and showcase the social and environmental impact they have created. Angeline Callista, CEO and co-founder of Sirsak, was pleased to contribute as one of the official judges, witnessing hundreds of participants from SMEs showcasing their commitment to circularity.

Insightful Discussion on Embracing Circular Shift at Sustainability Talk: "From Ideas to Impact"

The main event at Erasmus Huis, Jakarta opened with an insightful sustainability talk, "From Ideas to Impact: How SMEs Embrace Circular Shift." Together with experts from multiple sectors, including Dr. Lyta Permatasari, S.Kom., M.Si., Community Empowerment Analyst at the Ministry of Environment (KLH), and Dwi Riyan, Program Lead at Enviu Indonesia, Angeline Callista contributed to the panel discussion by sharing practical insights on how SMEs can integrate circular strategies into their day-to-day business operations through responsible waste management.

As one of Sirsak's mission is to manage packaging waste effectively, the discussion emphasized Sirsak's goal to build accessible circular infrastructure for waste management and recycling systems that empower SMEs to adopt sustainable practices without significant barriers. Sirsak supports SMEs in adopting circular business models by ensuring their packaging waste is professionally managed and diverted from landfills.

Sirsak embraced this opportunity to share a clearer understanding of how SMEs can collaborate with Sirsak, particularly by directing their multilayer packaging (MLP) waste to Sirsak's registered waste bank partners and managing the waste transparently through a digital waste management system. This approach reinforces the critical role in supporting circular value chains and advancing Indonesia's agenda in waste management.

The discussion also highlights that circular business models are no longer aspirational but essential frameworks for SMEs to navigate pressing environmental challenges and serve as a foundation to create more green jobs to strengthen Indonesia's long-term climate resilience.

Strengthening Indonesia's Circular Ecosystem Through Collaboration

Following the panel talk, Sirsak had the opportunity to engage directly with the visitors and other SME participants in our booth at the Circular Market. Sirsak was excited by the visitors' enthusiasm on how Sirsak can improve their businesses to be more environmentally responsible through proper waste management.

The Circular Market created an engaging learning space where sustainability became relatable for everyone. This circular market offered a platform for Sirsak to build connections with businesses and experts looking for responsible waste management and innovative traceability technology.
